A baby sea turtle floated on an inflatable while its friend pushed it through the water.

Footage shows the shelled marine mammal riding the ring on the surface of a conservation facility's tank in Gunma, Japan, on January 14.

It rested while allowing the object to drift and take it everywhere.

A Roadside Station Sea Turtle Park caretaker said: 'Green sea turtle hatchlings that live in the wild cling onto driftwood near the ocean surface. It was similar to that.'

The park works to conserve sea turtles while letting visitors into their facility for free.

Sea turtle species are categorised as Endangered or Critically Endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).

They face numerous threats, including habitat destruction, poaching, accidental capture in fishing gear, and climate change, which affects their nesting sites.
