Residents baffled when space satellite crashes onto homes in India
Residents were baffled when a space satellite crashed into their homes in India.
The satellite payload fell onto one of the houses in Bidar, Karnataka, on January 18 at 6 am local time, causing panic among locals.
The incident left the villagers in shock and fear as they saw a blinking red light dot rolling down, adding to their anxiety.
Authorities were called and discovered a letter in Kannada referencing the TIFR Balloon Facility.
The Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), a national centre overseen by the Department of Atomic Energy, is known for conducting atmospheric research and launching balloon flights from its facility in Hyderabad.
The letter mentioned that a balloon had been released from Hyderabad for weather studies.
Following an inspection by the Homnabad police, the TIFR crew departed from Hyderabad, with the authorities keeping the TIFR office informed.
