Protesters walked through Lafayette Square in a demonstration against newly inaugurated President Donald Trump.

The small group of activists gathered just steps from the White House to march in opposition to Trump's installation on January 20.

Signs carried by the demonstrators displayed bold messages such as 'In the name of humanity, we refuse to accept a fascist America' and 'We can't allow this system to burn down and suffocate the planet'.

Footage shows the protesters voicing their resistance as they began their march.

In Manhattan, thousands of demonstrators took to the streets on Monday after Trump's inauguration, holding signs calling for an end to U.S. aid to Israel.

The protest began at Washington Square Park and concluded at Macy's Herald Square, dispersing after 3 pm.

Donald Trump's swearing-in ceremony officially established him as the 47th president of the United States, following his term as the 45th president from 2017 to 2021.
