STORYLINE:

Türkiye has marked the 179th anniversary of its first agricultural school with a month-long series of events, symposiums, and workshops addressing challenges in agricultural education.

Founded in 1846, the Halkali Agricultural School in Istanbul laid the foundation for agricultural education in Türkiye and paved the way for agricultural faculties nationwide.

Each January, the Chamber of Agricultural Engineers marks the founding of the school with nationwide events addressing critical issues in agriculture, education, and production.

On Jan. 10, the Istanbul Chamber of Agricultural Engineers collaborated with the Istanbul Agriculture Platform to host a panel on agriculture and food security challenges. The discussions were preceded by the laying of a wreath at the Ataturk statue in the Kadikoy district.
