Qatar: Qatar confident in implementation of Gaza ceasefire agreement

Doha, Qatar - January 21, 2025 Qatar, one of the countries that brokered the Israel-Hamas ceasefire, expressed confidence in the implementation of the three-phase deal through a foreign ministry spokesperson. Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani called on both Israel and Hamas to fully adhere to the terms of the ceasefire agreement on Tuesday. On the same day Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Majed Al Ansari expressed optimism about the progress, but at the same time carefully monitoring the implementation process. The spokesman noted that Qatar is so far satisfied with the implementation, which has been proceeding smoothly. He called for joint efforts by countries in the region and the international community to ensure the full realization of the agreement. On a broader political note, Al Ansari stated that Qatar is committed to working towards a permanent ceasefire in Gaza. Currently, Qatar is preparing for negotiations on the second phase of the ceasefire agreement alongside its partner nations. On Qatar's stance regarding normalization with Israel, Al Ansari emphasized that the issue is tied to a resolution of the Palestinian issue.
