This is the impressive moment a smart German Shepherd used a smartwatch to buy sausages.

The four-year-old canine named 'Milk,' dressed in an oversized white shirt, purchased its snacks at a local store in Sanya, China, on January 7.

Footage shows the pooch roaming around the aisle and sniffing the racks where food items were stacked.

It then patiently waited for the store clerk to grab the food and proceeded to the checkout counter, where it used the device strapped to its paw to pay for the item by scanning a QR code.

Ms Huang, the owner of the dog, said: 'Milk regularly visited the store with his friends to 'self-serve' their favourite treats. To facilitate these purchases, Milk wore a smartwatch, typically a children's model, capped at a daily budget of 20 yuan (2.23 GBP).'

German Shepherds are one of the most intelligent dog breeds. They have the mental capability of a three-year-old human child.
