Aftermath of Wrexham AFC James McClean's crash caught on dashcam
Dashcam caught Wrexham AFC footballer James McClean standing next to his crashed car.
The 35-year-old midfielder was involved in a car crash this morning (January 22) at a roundabout on Holt Road near to Wrexham Golf Club - though did not suffer any injuries.
A Wrexham AFC spokesperson confirmed a first-team player has been involved in a car accident this morning on his way to training.
Wayne Gibbins, 63, caught the aftermath of the crash on his dashcam.
It appears to show the footballer on the phone, standing at the side of the road, next to his smashed car.
Wayne said: "I saw the tyre tracks on the roundabout and thought what on earth is going on?"
"Then as I went round the roundabout I saw a guy next to the car with police - I didn't even know it was James McClean until I got home."
"He must know that roundabout like the back of his hand – he's been here for two years now - so I'm surprised he's ended up like that."
A Wrexham AFC spokesperson said: "It was a single car accident with no other vehicles involved and the relevant local authorities were quickly present at the scene."
"The player reported to the club this morning and will undergo further medical checks as a precaution."
A North Wales Police spokesperson said: "Shortly before 9am this morning we received a report of a single vehicle road traffic collision on the A534 in Wrexham, near to Wrexham Golf Club."
"Officers and colleagues from the North Wales Fire and Rescue Service attended the incident, which had blocked the road until the vehicle was recovered shortly before 10am."
"No serious injuries were reported from the scene."
