Firefighters battled a brush fire late Wednesday in the Sepulveda Pass near the I-405 Freeway in Sherman Oaks.
The fire, dubbed the Sepulveda Fire, was first reported around 11 p.m. near the northbound lanes of the freeway, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. Bobby Coleman, who shared this footage, mentioned that he had passed the area just 10 minutes before the blaze broke out.
The fire initially burned through 20 acres of heavy brush, but by midnight, it had spread to 40 acres, fueled by winds of 8-15 mph and gusts up to 25 mph, according to the National Weather Service.
At approximately 11:30 p.m., evacuation warnings were issued for residents in the 1500 block of Casiano Road and surrounding areas. However, all warnings were lifted by 2 a.m. as firefighters gained control of the situation.
Officials continue to monitor the area to ensure no flare-ups occur, while residents are urged to remain cautious as fire conditions remain elevated.
