Gaza Strip - January 23, 2025 Hundreds of aid trucks loaded with food, medicine, and clothing entered the Gaza Strip on Thursday, the fifth day of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas. Since the ceasefire began on Sunday, aid trucks with goods and fuel have kept rushing into the enclave, leading to price drops in food and fuel. Various kinds of foods and commodities are now available in the local market after 15 months of scarcity triggered by the latest round of the Israel-Hamas conflict which broke out in October 2023. The supplies of food and medicine will help improve nutrition and healthcare for everyone living there. In the meantime, local restaurants have reopened after repairs and replenishing inventories of beef and poultry. UN relief organizations and NGOs have resumed distribution of food parcels to the displaced who have suffered severe food insecurity during the conflict. Malnutrition in Gaza is widespread. As aids are pouring into the enclave now, the World Health Organization has warned that Gazans still face "the risk of famine." Almost 3,000 aid trucks had entered Gaza as of Thursday.
