Kilmarnock, United Kingdom - January 24, 2025 Parts of Scotland were expected to bear the brunt of the powerful Storm Eowyn as it moved into the UK from Ireland on January 24, and a flattened circus tent in Kilmarnock showed just how strong the winds were. The Met Office said winds of over 90 mph had been recorded in Scotland, after potentially the “strongest gust ever recorded in Ireland” was clocked at 114 mph. Footage filmed by Gary Sandford in Kilmarnock shows a collapsed circus tent that had been hosting the Christmas pantomime. “This tent was used for the pantomimes as the Palace Theatre is being refurbished … it’s been wrecked,” Sandford wrote on X [Credit: X/sandfoga]
