STORYLINE:

Thanks to growing imports and consumption power, Chinese people are now enjoying a wide range of flavors from around the world at their festive dining tables.

Exhibitors from 38 countries and regions have gathered at the 28th Sichuan Spring Festival Shopping Fair in southwest China's Chengdu to showcase their specialty products.

Concluded on Wednesday, the fair attracted about 560,000 visitors with total sales reaching 2.24 billion yuan (about 309 million U.S. dollars).

"I bought some cherries, imported fruits, and seafood. As the Spring Festival approaches, so we stocked up some for the festival."

Customs data shows that Sichuan imported 17.18 billion yuan's (2.36 billion U.S. dollars) worth of consumer goods in 2024, marking a year-on-year increase of 31.7 percent.
