According to farmers, gold bar-shaped grapefruits are sought after by many people during the Lunar New Year. Gold bar-shaped grapefruits are decorated with the purpose of praying for wealth in the new year.
The grapefruits are shaped like gold bars using plastic molds with two sides with the words Tai and Loc symbolizing wealth and fortune. To create grapefruits, in addition to using plastic molds, farmers must take care of each grapefruit to avoid uneven growth and lack of light. The grapefruits need 5-8 months to develop into gold bars.
The grapefruits cost about 20-40 USD depending on color and weight.
