Two residents were killed by a landslide in Indonesia, a number of vehicles were badly damaged.
The natural disaster of a landslide hit Ranteballa village, Latimojong District, Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi province on Saturday evening, January 25 2025.
It was reported that the landslide caused two residents to die under soil material.
Head of the Luwu Regency Disaster Management Agency, Adi B Tenriesa, confirmed the incident.
"Two people died. "One person has been found, the other person is being evacuated, and the body will later be taken to the nearest hospital and then taken to the funeral home," he said.
Adi B Tenriesa admitted that Luwu district Disaster Management Agency personnel were at the location evacuating the victims.
Apart from the two victims, it was reported that a number of vehicles belonging to the gold company, PT Masmindo, were also buried by landslides.
Information gathered states that at the time of the incident, Rante Balla village and its surroundings were hit by heavy rain, causing landslides on the cliffs.
This landslide natural disaster is the second time this has occurred in Latimojong District.
In 2024, floods and landslides caused a number of residents to become victims.
