Annual March in Commemoration of Charles I, Executed Illegally in Central London
London, UK. 26 January 2025.
53rd Annual March in Commemoration of Charles I, Executed Illegally on 30 January 1649.
Members of the King’s Army of the English Civil War Society take part in an annual march down The Mall in London to commemorate the execution of King Charles I.
The march retraces the final journey of King Charles I, who in 1649 was led from St James’s Palace to Banqueting House on Whitehall, where he was beheaded.
Participants, all dressed in royalist costumes, including mounted troops armed with period weapons, honor what they refer to as ”His Majesty’s horrid murder.”
