This is the Fast and Furious moment a police car appeared to fly while chasing suspects down a narrow street.

The footage was captured by CCTV cameras in Santissimo, a notoriously dangerous area in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Thursday afternoon, January 16.

The video shows the drivers racing down the street in two cars, a black vehicle and a white one, hitting a bump in the road.

They speed along, weaving through traffic while being pursued by a blue-and-white police 4WD.

When the cop car hits the bump in the road, it virtually goes flying down the street, with a second CCTV camera capturing it swerving onto the sidewalk. It narrowly avoids hitting an elderly man on a bicycle, managing to regain control just in time.

The chase ended when two of the police car's tyres were punctured, allowing the suspects to escape.

Local media reported that the men were believed to be robbers who had allegedly carried out a heist in the area.

No injuries were reported, and authorities continued searching for the group and their vehicles.
