STORYLINE:
Hundreds of Palestinian families have gathered along the coast of central Gaza in the hope of returning to Gaza City, from which they were displaced 15 months ago.
The refugees congregated near the Israeli Netzarim military checkpoint, which separates the southern and northern Gaza Strip.

This return is tied to the ongoing implementation of a prisoner exchange deal and a ceasefire agreement brokered by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States.
However, Hamas on Sunday accused Israel of violating the ceasefire deal by banning Palestinian residents from returning to their homes in the northern Gaza Strip.
On Saturday, the Israeli prime minister's office said in a statement that Israel will not allow Palestinian residents to return to their homes in the northern Gaza Strip until the release of Israeli civilian Arbel Yehud, who was scheduled to be freed on Saturday but was replaced by an Israeli female soldier by Hamas.
