The natural disaster of a tornado hit residential areas in Indonesia, a number of residents' houses were damaged.
This is how the seconds of a rotating strong wind vortex, known as a tornado, hit residential areas on the outskirts of Lake Matano in Sorowako village, Nuha district, East Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi province in Indonesia, on January 27 2025 afternoon.
The strong winds swirled into residential areas, damaging approximately 5 residents' houses.
"Yes, it is true that there was a strong wind vortex like a tornado that hit residential areas, damaging a number of houses in Sorowako village," said Amson Padolo, Head of the South Sulawesi Provincial Disaster Management Agency.
In this incident, it almost hit a resident's boat which was making a crossing trip on Lake Matano.
"One boat carrying a number of passengers survived, the strong wind vortex almost hit the boat carrying passengers, they were lucky to survive," added Amson Padolo in his statement.
Residents are asked to be alert regarding extreme weather, because in the last few days the weather in East Luwu district has been full of rain.
