This is the moment of evacuating residents buried by landslides in Indonesia. 4 people died, 4 people managed to survive the landslide.

A landslide hit two residents' houses in Mamuju Regency, West Sulawesi province, Indonesia, on Sunday 26 January 2025 evening at 23.00 local time (Central Indonesian Time).

This disaster resulted in 4 people dying and 4 others suffering serious injuries.

"4 people died due to being buried by landslide material, while 4 others suffered serious injuries and were successfully evacuated," said Police Inspector Herman Basir, Head of Public Relations for the Mamuju City Police.

The incident occurred in the Tapodede Neighborhood, Mamunyu Village, Mamuju District, Mamuju Regency.

The landslide occurred after the Mamuju area was hit by heavy rain from afternoon to evening.

"Landslides occur due to high rainfall," he said in short.

Herman Basir said the evacuation process was quite difficult because landslide material also covered the road, making it impossible for vehicles to pass.

The dead and injured victims were first carried on stretchers to cars waiting in a safe place.

"The road to the crime scene (TKP) cannot be passed by vehicles," he explained.

Herman added that the 4 injured victims had been taken to hospital, while the dead victims were being buried at the funeral home.

"Currently officers are setting up an emergency post to support residents who need further assistance," he added.
