Police found body parts from endangered animals in a poacher's freezer in Russia.

The bust took place in Nakhodka, Primorsky Krai region, with reports saying that a number of the wildlife are listed in the Red Data Book of the Russian Federation on Thursday, January 23.

Also known simply as the Red Book, it lists rare and endangered species of animals in the country.

Footage shows border guards seizing body parts from the creatures, including 12 bear paws and a tiger skin.

The FSB Public Relations Centre said in a statement: 'In Nakhodka, Primorsky Krai, in a non-residential building used by a foreign citizen, the skin of an Amur tiger, 12 bear paws, and other fragments of wild animals were found and confiscated.'

The authorities estimate the damage to Russia's natural resources to be about RUB 3 million (GBP 24,600).

They also recovered over 2,000 dried trepangs, also known as sea cucumbers.

The suspect is said to be a foreign national, although the Russian authorities did not reveal their identity.

A criminal investigation has been opened.

The suspect faces between six and nine years in a maximum-security penal colony if convicted.
