Gaza Strip - January 27, 2025 The Islamist group Hamas confirmed Monday the entry of displaced Palestinians into northern Gaza and celebrated their return to the area, one of the hardest hit by the Israeli offensive, as a victory and a “declaration of the failure and defeat of the (Israeli) occupation and its displacement plans”. Israel and Hamas launched the first phase of a hostage release and cease-fire agreement on January 19. According to the UN, at least 1.9 million people (nine out of ten) in the entire Gaza Strip are internally displaced, including those who have been repeatedly displaced.
