Tourists took selfies on an algae-covered beach in Thailand.

Footage shows visitors posing for photos as they stood on the seaside rocks blanketed in bright green algae at Bali Hai Cape in Pattaya City, on January 26.

Locals said the rocky platforms, which look like miniature rolling hills carpeted in lush green vegetation, only emerge during the low tide, when the waters recede enough to expose the normally submerged surface.

They added the ephemeral sight happens only once a year, and only lasts for around two weeks before the algae start to wither and dry up.

Tourism officials said the surge of visitors hoping to capture the Instagram-worthy beach helped stimulate tourism in the city during this period.
