US: Heroic Runner Saves Man From Jumping Off 2nd Street Bridge
Louisville, United States - January 26, 2025 On January 26, around 5:00 PM, officers responded to a distress call at the 2nd Street Bridge, where a man in crisis was attempting to jump. But before authorities arrived, an unexpected hero stepped in. A woman, out for her daily run, spotted the man on the edge and immediately took action to prevent him from jumping. She physically intervened, stopping him once before police arrived on scene. Her quick thinking and courage made all the difference. Detective Willis was the first officer to arrive. As soon as he did, the man tried again to jump. Willis and the runner fought to restrain the man and pull him back from the ledge. In the video footage, you can hear Detective Willis asking the woman to “press the button” on his radio. With both hands occupied in the struggle, the button essentially served as a distress call, notifying dispatch to send additional help. Together, they managed to pull the man safely back over the railing and place him in handcuffs for his safety, not as an arrest. The man was transported to the hospital for further treatment, and thankfully, no injuries were reported. The woman, who didn’t hesitate to help a complete stranger, was praised for her heroism. While she could have simply continued on her run, her moral compass led her to step in and save a life. Her actions demonstrated the power of compassion and selflessness in a moment of crisis.
