These before and after pictures show the "amazing" results of a man's first haircut - in eight YEARS."

Michael Davies had an impressive 20 inches chopped off at 4K Cuts barbershop in Dymchurch, Kent, last Friday.

The 35-year-old, who lives in the nearby town of Lydd, says he had been growing out his long locks due to a past girlfriend's request - despite them breaking up three years ago.

But after starting his own company M&D Construction three weeks ago, he decided it was time for a change.

He said: "I've been wanting to start my own business now for a little while."

"I just wanted to look smart after eight years of growing my hair and beard."

"I've got to go to customers' houses so I want to look presentable."

A video of the transformative haircut shows the moment that the business owner became almost unrecognisable.

Mr Davies added: "I'm a bit cold now, but it was amazing."

"I was a bit wary at first because I've always been very careful about my hair and my beard. But afterwards I felt really good."

"It's really boosted my confidence as well. I feel like a new man. "

"I had a shower this morning and did my hair, looked in the mirror and thought: ‘Who's that good-looking chap?'"

"I can't believe it. It made me look about 15 years younger."

Ozzi Ahmedi, owner of 4K Cuts, says he has been asking Mr Davies if he can cut his hair for three years.

The barber said: "I always tell him - whenever you want a haircut, let me be the one to do it."

"He used to come just for a beard trim."

"Last time he said, ‘I'm going to have a haircut', and I was surprised."

"I have been cutting hair for about 10 years and I have never done someone's after so long."

"I didn't expect him to look that young. Before he looked like he could be 50, but now he looks like mid-30s."

Mr Ahmedi, who has owned his high street business for about four years, had his long-haired client in the chair for just over an hour.

Mr Davies added: "I can't thank Ozzi enough."

"I had cancer when I was four, so I am going to donate the hair to the Little Princess Trust to make wigs."
