Locals fuming over flytipping that leaves a suburb 'looking like landfill'
Locals are slamming litterbugs and the council over flytipping that leaves a suburb 'looking like landfill'.
Shocking photos on Kintras Street, Iona Street and Columba Street show the extent of the fly-tipping in parts of Ibrox in Glasgow, Scotland.
Pictures show plastic buckets, planks of wood, discarded mattresses, old furniture and bin bags of rubbish which are torn and loose on the street.
Lorraine Hargan, 74, has become accustomed to fly-tipping sightings in the 50 years she has lived in the area but she says lately it is the worst it has ever been.
"There's rubbish and junk around corners and down streets. I have seen things like washing machines and just bags of rubbish," she said."
"This is the worst it has been. It is a real mess. It is an eyesore, it's dreadful. "
"People come and pick me up, like taxi drivers, and it is the first thing they see. A lot of them comment that it is terrible looking."
"I have grandkids that come here, and I don't want them near here, especially for health reasons."
Other locals say the amount of rubbish there makes it one of the most fly-tipped parts of Scotland.
One fumed at the council: ''How about collect rubbish instead of cutting pickups so people have space in their tiny bins''
Another said: ''I honestly cannot believe people can leave their sh*t like this and not give a toss to the residents nearby.
''This is getting out of control. Its completely taking over everywhere you go there's fridges couches and numerous other things. STOP LITTERING OUR CITY you scumbags take care of your own sh*t responsibly
