This is the shocking moment a sewer exploded, sending a manhole cover hurtling at a pedestrian.

A 12-year-old girl ignited a firecracker and threw it inside one of the pits, causing an explosion in Chongqing, China, on January 27 at 7:38 pm.

Footage shows the teenager running away from the cover when she accidentally stepped on another lid that also blew up.

This prompted her to fly into the air and fall 32 ft (10 m) to the ground.

Four sewer caps went off, damaging the pavement.

A man walking nearby can be seen moving back during the explosion, seemingly confused as to what happened.

Moments later, the victim plummeted unconscious to the ground feetfirst as the local ran away from the area.

Local media reported that her yellow coat was shattered, one shoe was blown off, and one foot was suspected to have been blown off.

She was reportedly sent to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment after being injured with multiple fractures all over her body and severe head burns.
