The dispersal Auction takes place at Dairyland. The Hugely popular attraction could no longer make ends meet and closed in November 2024.
A huge vintage countryside heritage collection is under the hammer in the UK.
50 years ago farmer Rex Davies had the idea to create a tourist attraction on his land near Newquay, Cornwall, UK.He thought that showing people his cows being milked would interest people. His idea was hugely successful and formed the center of a family attraction, which grew to be an extensive museum of British country life over time. Generations of the families have grown to love the venue. Children returned to visit with their children and grandchildren. The Venue changed hands in 2019. However, the running costs have proved unsustainable in recent years and despite record visitor numbers, the attraction has racked up significant deficits. With a heavy heart, the owners have been forced to accept the breaking up of Dairyland and the disposal of the collection by auction of the contents. Some of the exhibits are huge such as the four-horse mill which sold for just £40 pounds, perhaps due to its size. A Traditional Hay wagon attracted £1200 pounds. Walls will need to be removed to extract some items. The Auction is on-site and on-line today on Thursday 29th January 2025. and has bidders both local and international.
