This is the dramatic moment homes and shops were shaken by a magnitude 5.1 earthquake that struck Indonesia this morning.

CCTV captured terrified residents and workers fleeing into the streets outside as the tremors rocked East Kolaka Regency in Southeast Sulawesi at around 8:50 am local time.

Officials reported that 32 houses and two temples were damaged. There were no injuries.

Tajudin, Head of the Prevention Division of the East Kolaka Regional Disaster Management Agency, said that the violent tremors lasted for up to five seconds in some areas.

He added: 'Some residents are still outside their homes anticipating aftershocks.'

The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported that the magnitude 5.1 earthquake was the 125th earthquake in a series of tremors that have been occurring in the region since January 24.

They said the quake, which coincided with the celebration of Chinese New Year, originated at a depth of 10 kilometres with its epicentre located 15 kilometres southwest of East Kolaka.
