President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump boarded Air Force One to visit and assess the damage from the California wildfires.

Footage shows Trump and his wife boarding the aircraft on January 24, marking the first trip of his second term, departing from Joint Base Andrews in Maryland.

The tour also included visits to western North Carolina to survey the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.

The weather phenomenon struck the U.S. in late September 2024 as a devastating Category 4 storm that made landfall in Florida's Big Bend area. More than 230 fatalities were reported.

Trump said: 'We're going to North Carolina. It's a horrible thing, the way that's been allowed to fester. And we're going to get it fixed up.

'Should have been done months ago from the hurricane that took place almost four months ago. North Carolina has been treated very badly.'

They will also visit Los Angeles to evaluate the damage from recent wildfires.

He added: 'So we're stopping there and we are then going to go to Los Angeles and take a look at a fire that could have been put out if they let the water flow but they didn't let the water flow, and they still haven't for whatever reason. So, I think we're going to have a very interesting time.'
