United States - December 15, 2024 State Troopers thwarted a suspected human trafficking scheme last month, rescuing a 22-year-old neurodivergent woman who had been lured away from her family by an online predator. The woman left her southeastern Massachusetts home after being convinced to board a bus from Boston to Hartford, Connecticut, where two individuals were set to take her to Jamaica. When her family alerted authorities, Troopers sprang into action and raced to intercept the bus. Despite an early departure, officers successfully located and stopped the vehicle on the MassPike, ensuring the woman’s safety. As part of National Human Trafficking Awareness and Prevention Month, Massachusetts State Police reaffirm their commitment to combating this form of modern slavery and urge the public to report any suspected trafficking cases by calling 911.
