Six Nations Colosseum Launch Reflects Italy's 25th Year

The Launch of this years Six Nations tournament took place at the Colosseum in Rome, to mark the 25th anniversary of Italy joining the elite of Europe's Rugby Nations.

These modern-day Gladiators arrived at dawn on Tuesday to surround the Six Nations trophy.

This year's captains are defending champion, Ireland's Caelan Doris, host captain Michele Lamaro, the new England skipper Maro Itoje, the returning Antoine Duponte for France, Scotland's Rory Darge, replacing the injured Sione Tuipulotu.

The first match takes place on January 31st in Paris as France take on Wales, but the weekend's big game sees Ireland host England in Dublin.

The third match is Scotland hosting Italy ahead of a wide-open Six Nations season.

"I think this year we've got 4 or 5 teams that could win this tournament." confirmed Six Nations CEO Tom Harrison, "That is one of the great that's one of the great things about it. We will definitely get upsets."

The Italians are coming off their best season since 2013 with three victories and they were within a post of beating France.

In 2024, 185 million fans tuned in across 64 countries to watch the Six Nations action, whilst 4 million social media followers drove 615 million video views, and nearly 300,000 fans competed against each other through the Six Nations Fantasy Rugby game
