Melksham, United Kingdom - July 09, 2024 A 21-year-old woman has been sentenced after crashing an unregistered Sur-Ron bike while leading police on a dangerous chase through Melksham. On July 9, 2024, Natalia Burke of Queensway attempted to evade a marked police motorcycle, driving recklessly along Spa Road and Coronation Road. She then swerved onto the wrong side of Milton Avenue, crashing into a wall before fleeing on foot. At Salisbury Magistrates' Court on January 15, Burke pleaded guilty to six charges, including failing to stop for police, driving without a license, and using a motor vehicle without insurance. She was handed a 12-month community order, ordered to complete 80 hours of unpaid work, and disqualified from driving for four months. PC Hobbs from Wiltshire's Roads Policing Unit stated, "Burke's manner of driving was incredibly careless, and it's a matter of luck that no one was injured." The bike she was riding did not meet the legal regulations for e-bikes, classifying it as an illegal electrically powered moped.
