A huge python escaped from a sack and slithered across the front of its rescuer's car.

The 13ft (4m) serpent was captured from a family's home while being transported to a rescue facility but slipped out of the bag in Trang, Thailand, on January 30.

Footage shows the reptile slinking on the bonnet and windshield of the white pickup truck.

The snake was lured off the car and onto the pavement where the rescue volunteer caught it again with a noose.

Onlooker Chaloempol Madaeng, a delivery rider stuck in traffic, said: 'The truck is owned by Thung Kai Subdistrict Administrative Organisation (SAO). The snake escaped from the back of the car.

'The sack was not tied tight enough, so the snake escaped. It was so big.'

The python was successfully put back in the sack, and the traffic moved along.

No one was hurt, and the snake was released back into the forest later.

The reticulated python is found throughout Southeast Asia, where they live in forests, swamps, canals and even in cities, causing them to come into conflict with humans. The species is one of the world's largest snakes and can eat humans, cats, dogs, birds, rats and other snakes.
