Cape Canaveral, United States - January 29, 2025 SpaceX has successfully launched the next-generation SpainSat NG-1 satellite into orbit, a key milestone for secure communications in Europe. The Falcon 9 rocket blasted off from NASA's Kennedy Space Center at 8:34 p.m. ET on January 29, carrying the satellite for the European Space Agency (ESA) and Hisdesat. The mission saw the spacecraft deployed into a geostationary transfer orbit, marking the 13th SpaceX launch of 2025. In a bittersweet moment, the launch also served as the final flight for Falcon 9 first-stage booster B1073, which had previously carried out several high-profile missions, including the HAKUTO M1 moon lander and CRS-27 resupply mission. SpainSat NG-1, developed by Hisdesat with ESA’s cutting-edge communications technology, will deliver faster data transmission and enhanced security for governmental users across Europe and beyond.
