France trained at the Stade de France on Thursday, ahead of Friday night’s Six Nations opener against Wales.

Their talismanic captain Antoine Dupont is back for ‘Les Bleus’ - the scrum half missed last year's tournament to concentrate on preparations for the Paris Olympics with the France sevens squad and he played a key role in the team winning the gold medal on home soil.

France, who beat New Zealand in the autumn internationals, are the favourites going into the Six Nations and will be odds-on to add to a miserable losing run for Warren Gatland’s Wales.

The Welsh have not won a Test since beating Georgia at the 2023 World Cup, losing to Australia (three times), South Africa (twice), France, Fiji, Argentina, Italy, England, Scotland and Ireland, a sequence of 12 straight defeats.

In addition, France have won their last six meetings with Wales.
