100++ elephants stops cars on the main road while braking electric fence
A camera positioned nearby captured footage of a herd of over a hundred elephants traveling along a road in the Onpola area, between Kurunegala and Galgamuwa. The footage shows the elephants stopping vehicles on the road and attempting to break an electric fence set up to prevent their entry.
After crossing the railway track and the main road, the elephants tried to break the electric fence. However, as they were unable to do so, they wandered around the main road and surrounding areas. They continued their efforts until they finally managed to break through the electric fence.
During this time, the elephants were also recorded by a camera mounted on a moving vehicle. The herd attempted to move toward the elephant reserve but was unable to do so due to the electric fence. After about ten minutes of trying, they eventually broke through the fence and returned to the forest.
