At least five workers were killed, and 30 individuals were injured when a cement plant scaffolding collapsed in India.

Police reports said that the roof slabs were being installed at the construction site when they caved in, trapping workers under the collapsed scaffolding at the JK Cement Plant in Panna, Madhya Pradesh.

Footage from the incident on January 30 shows hundreds of frantic workers in the area being guided by policemen as they look at the damaged platform.

The SDRF team and authorities are conducting rescue and relief operations to retrieve the victims.

Local media reported that the exact number of casualties and injuries is yet to be determined.

Vishnu Datt Sharma, the State BJP Chief and Khajuraho MP, has reportedly directed the district government to ensure that the injured individuals receive necessary medical attention and immediate assistance.
