A cultural event to introduce the Chinese New Year was held at the Oriental Knowledge Bookstore in Tunisia on Saturday.

The event was part of a series of celebrations that are held simultaneously in more than 100 bookstores in 36 countries and regions around the world, including the United States, France, and Tunisia.

Participants, including students majoring in Chinese at the Higher Institute of Languages at the University of Carthage and local Chinese culture enthusiasts, learned about the traditions of the Spring Festival and immersed themselves in the festive atmosphere through activities such as watching short videos, answering questions, writing Chinese characters, and singing Chinese songs.

Khaled Haj Ahmed, the owner of the bookstore and the Head of the Chinese Department at Carthage University, said that more and more Tunisian students are choosing the Chinese language as their major, and the influence of Chinese culture in African countries is increasing.
