Gaza Strip - February 01, 2025 Hamas released the fourth batch of Israeli hostages on Saturday, handing over three individuals to the International Committee of the Red Cross in Gaza City as part of the ceasefire deal. Earlier Saturday morning, two hostages, the 54-year-old Israeli French citizen Ofer Calderon and the 35-year-old Israeli civilian Yarden Bibas, were handed over to the Red Cross in the southern city of Khan Younis. The third hostage, the 65-year-old Israeli-U.S. dual national Keith Siegel, was released at a port in Gaza City, marking the complete handover of the three Israeli hostages. Siegel was taken to the Gaza Strip by Hamas along with his wife Aviva on Oct 7, 2023. Aviva was released in November 2023. The release, conducted as part of the fourth batch under the first phase of the prisoner exchange and ceasefire deal that has halted 15 months of intense fighting between Hamas and Israel, was coordinated with international mediators to ensure a safe transfer. The exchange was part of the efforts to implement a negotiated agreement to facilitate the release of detainees on both sides while maintaining a temporary cessation of hostilities. According to Palestinian sources, further developments on the deal's implementation since January 19 are expected in the coming days. Shotlist: Khan Younis, Gaza Strip - Feb 1, 2025: 1.
