US, Bakersfield: Bakersfield Man Stuck in Canal for Hours

Bakersfield, United States - February 01, 2025 02/01/2025 09:49 am (GMT-0800) BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The Kern County Fire Department responded to a rescue call at approximately 9:45 a.m. after reports of a man in a canal near Olive Drive and Teakwood Drive. Firefighters arrived to find the man in up to two feet of water. Crews used a ladder to assist him out of the canal. A passerby walking along Olive Drive flagged down a Kern County Sheriff's Office deputy to report the incident. It was unclear how long the man had been in the water, but he claimed he had been there for "a couple hours." The man was transported with minor injuries, including possible hypothermia. The Kern County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.
