West Bank: Released Palestinian prisoners arrive in West Bank
West Bank - February 01, 2025 A total of 25 Palestinians released by Israel have arrived in the West Bank after three Israeli hostages were freed by Hamas. They are part of the 183 prisoners freed by Israel on Saturday as part of the ongoing ceasefire agreement. Celebratory scenes were seen in the West Bank town of Betunia, near Ramallah, as the released Palestinian prisoners arrived home. Wearing gray Israeli prison tracksuits, they were greeted by welcoming cheers and tears of joy as they stepped off the Red Cross bus. The Palestinian Prisoner's Society said the released men showed signs of starvation, illness, and physical injuries. A Palestinian official said their release came at a high price. The exchange of hostages held in Gaza for prisoners from Israeli jails is a key part of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas. Among the 183 prisoners released on Saturday, 150 were sent back or deported to Gaza, 32 sent to the West Bank, and one to Egypt. Shotlist: Betunia, West Bank - Feb 1, 2025: 1.
