Phoenix, United States - February 02, 2025 02/02/2025 02:00 am (GMT-0700) PHOENIX, Ariz. – Phoenix Police and Phoenix Fire crews responded to reports of a vehicle versus a power pole near the 6500 Block of West Thomas Road in Maryvale / Phoenix. Officers arrived to find a pickup truck blocking the eastbound lanes of Thomas Road and a downed power pole on the north side of Thomas Road. Officers on the scene stated that the driver fled the scene on foot. Officers established a hard closure for Thomas Road spanning between 61st Avenue and 63rd Avenue due to live power lines in the roadway. One of the downed lines was seen arcing for several minutes before causing a surge, which caused the initial power outage to spread further to the east. Officers and SPR officials are expected to remain on scene throughout the morning as crews work to restore power to the area and repair the damaged pole. Per the SRP outage map (https://myaccount.srpnet.com/power/MyAccount/Outages) 1300 customers were affected at the start of the outage. That number has reduced to 454 as of 3:57 AM. Complete restoration time: 12:00 PM.
