The author said: "My mum and I grew up around the whale watching boat fleet and she used to take me on regular trips as a young kid. She has an auto immune disease which doesn’t allow her to get out and about like she used to so we managed to snag a nice calm day to get her back out on the water in our own boat and it was almost like the whales knew she was coming back to her happy place. We spotted a pair in the distance and stopped the boat turning off the engine and allowing the whales to approach us on their own accord. Once they realized we were just up for a chill experience they didn’t want to leave the boat alone!"
