This is the moment a bus carrying tourists plunged into a ravine injuring nine of those onboard.

Dashcam footage shows the vehicle spinning out of control along a road on busy holiday island of Phuket, Thailand, on February 1.

It veered off the highway and ploughed through the road barrier, before tumbling 50ft down the ravine.

Authorities said the accident happened at around 1:09 pm local time. Volunteers and medics arrived at the scene to rescue the injured passengers.

Among the injured were four Chinese tourists, a German, two Russians, a Thai woman, and the Thai bus driver, Wira, 49. Most injuries were reported to be minor, but three Chinese tourists, Jia Fengfeng, 37, Qin Jingxuan, 28, and Li Zerong, 9, were taken to the Pa Tong Hospital for further treatment.

Bus driver Wira blamed slippery road conditions for the crash, despite no rain at the time.

A rescue volunteer said: 'The other passengers, including the Russians and the German, were slightly injured. They declined to be taken to a hospital because they were in a rush to get to the airport. They did not want to miss their flight.'

A police spokesman added: ‘The bus was heading from Karon to the Phuket Airport. We are investigating the cause of the accident.'

On January 26, several British tourists were among 43 injured when their bus crashed into trees in Laos. The backpackers were traveling from the capital Vientiane to Pakse when the vehicle veered off the road and sloughed into woodland along the highway.

The Brits and 24 other holidaymakers from eight other countries were rushed to a hospital in neighbouring Thailand for treatment following the collision in Salavan, Lakhonepheng at 5am.

On January 3, five British passengers were injured while returning from Thailand's notorious 'Death Island' when their van crashed into a truck.

The van was carrying 11 holidaymakers back to the capital Bangkok when it reportedly rear-ended the oil tanker along a road in Prachuap Khiri Khan province. The Brits were among those rushed to a local hospital for serious head and face injuries.

Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.

However, a lack of road safety education in schools along with notoriously easy driving tests, police failures to enforce road laws, and chronic under-investment in infrastructure, all appear to hamper the efforts.
