Hundreds of residents queued like snakes to get 3 kilogram (kg) LPG gas cylinders at the Aster housing complex, Cibodas, Tangerang City, Banten on February 3, 2025. This incident was the impact of government policy which limited the sale of subsidized gas at the retail level since 1 last February.

Hundreds of residents had been queuing since the morning and were only able to get the 3kg gas in the afternoon. In fact, quite a few residents were disappointed because they didn't get the quota to buy the 3kg gas because of the limited amount available each day.

As previously reported, the Indonesian government prohibited traditional stalls and small-scale retail shops from selling 3 kg LPG or melon gas starting last Saturday (1/2/2025). Traders must have permission as an official agent or sub-distributor of Pertamina to be able to sell subsidized gas.

As a result of this policy, many residents said they were disappointed because the government had issued a policy that was detrimental to ordinary people, which resulted in the difficulty of getting 3 kg of subsidized gas.
