Angler pulls frozen 20lbs calf from ice-covered lake in China
An angler pulled frozen 20lb carp from an ice-covered lake in China.
Footage shows the man crouching by the riverbank and poking at the ice with his stick after apparently spotting the fish just beneath the surface in Anhui on January 16.
After pushing the ice sheet covering the water aside, he managed to drag the fish close to shore.
The carp then moved its tailfin subtly while being held by the man by its gills.
Locals speculated that the man was planning to eat the fish.
Some species of carp are able to withstand periods of extreme cold, which send the fish into a state of torpor, leaving them motionless and vulnerable to predators.
