A grand procession took out with the ashes of Lord Buddha and two disciples in Bodhgaya, Northern India

The exhibition of the ashes of Lord Buddha and his two disciples Shariputra and Mahamoglan, organized for three days at Jayshree Mahabodhi Mahavihar of Bodhgaya Mahabodhi Society of India (Sri Lankan Buddhist Monastery), has ended.

On 3 February Monday, the relic of the sacred ashes of Mahatma Buddha was duly worshiped and a grand procession was taken out. In this, the carriage decorated in traditional clothes was the center of attraction. The proclamation of Buddham Sharanam Gachchami... kept echoing throughout Bodh Gaya,Bihar.

A confluence of religion, faith and spirituality was seen in the procession. Buddhist monks from countries like Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Thailand, Bangladesh, Laos etc. along with a large number of Buddhist followers participated in the procession. Everyone was standing in a queue and carrying Panchsheel flags.

This also includes school boys and girls, She was carrying placards with Buddha's teachings written on them. Earlier, the followers worshiped in the Sri Lankan temple complex. The Buddha statue of about four feet was placed on a vehicle at the front of the procession. It was decorated with flower garlands and Panchsheel flags.

The people involved in this were chanting 'Buddham Sharanam Gachchami'. Buddhist devotees saw the remains of Buddha and his disciples Shariputra and Mahamoglan.

School students participated in the procession. Gave the message of peace and religious harmony to the world through religion and culture.

The procession left the historic Kalachakra Ground and visited the Mahabodhi Temple area and reached the 80 feet Buddha statue. From there again the procession of Mahabodhi Society came. The sacred metal relic was placed on three chariots. The musical instruments were led by artists from the Sri Lankan country.

The urn was safely installed in Jayshree Mahabodhi Mahavihar. The exhibition of the ashes of Buddha and his two disciples is being held in Bodh Gaya since 2006.
