A heroic police officer rushed to prevent a fire at a house after the owner forgot to turn off the gas cylinder in Thailand.

Local media reported that authorities received an urgent request for assistance from a distressed resident in Bangkok on February 2, who feared the unattended cooking stove could catch fire.

With the gate securely locked, Police Sergeant Major Phuriwat Somphakdee and Police Lieutenant Chaturapong Rakkaew made their way through a neighbouring two-story townhouse, then proceeded to the roof of the owner's residence to gain access.

The officers forced open the door from the second floor, allowing them to reach the kitchen below quickly.

Footage from the scene shows Somphakdee dashing to the stove, where he discovered the gas burner still alight, with a scorched pot of coconut milk curry.

He successfully turned off the valve, preventing potential damage.

Officials reminded residents to always secure appliances and gas cylinders before leaving home to avoid possible hazards and ensure safety.
