A frozen fish sparked panic when it appeared to come back to life inside a shopping trolley.

Footage shows bags of crisps trembling in a supermarket cart before the catfish had to be transferred to a different bag. It was flapping around and almost slipped off the plastic container in Manila, the Philippines, on January 31.

Shopper Katrina Muniz said he bought the fish for dinner but noticed it moving. It then began shaking its fins when the employee picked it up and stuffed it in a paper bag at the checkout counter.

Katrina said: 'After picking out the catfish from the seafood section, I went on to grab some household items. On my way to the cashier, I stopped by the snack area and picked up a few treats for my husband, Nands.

'That was when I noticed a small movement in my cart. For a moment, I freaked out. I had completely forgotten about the catfish. It had been about 15 minutes since I was at the seafood section, and there had been no movement until then.'

The fish was taken away and returned to the fish counter before Katrina was handed a different fish for her supper.
