This is the terrifying moment a fire ripped through a hotel sending guests fleeing into the street in Thailand.

The blaze broke out at the five-storey building in Bangkok after a visitor allegedly left the stove unattended while cooking dinner on February 3.

Footage shows officers battling the fire with extinguishers as fire trucks arrived blaring loud sirens. Terrified guests ran outside as smoke began filling the corridors.

A fire department spokesman said: 'The fire is believe to have originated from a second-floor kitchen. It has been extinguished and we are further investigating the cause.'

Authorities were also ventilating the hotel.

Fires in Thailand are commonly cuased by aging electrical infrastructure, extensive use of wood in home construction, and regional heatwaves that can exacerbate fire risks. Rapid fire response can also be hampered in densely packed neighbourhoods where narrow streets can delay firefighting efforts.
