The story of Ahmed Salih Sebbag and his family, who migrated from Tal Rifaat in the middle of the Syrian Civil War on December 22, 2016, is a tragic example of war and displacement. Tel Rifaat, as a strategically important town located in the northeast of Aleppo province, was the scene of many conflicts throughout the war. In 2016, while the region was under the control of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and YPG, there were intense clashes with the Free Syrian Army (FSA).

Ahmed Salih Sebbag and his family had to leave their home due to the impact of the Syrian Civil War. At that time, air strikes and local conflicts in Tal Rifaat put the civilian population in great danger. For this reason, the Sebbag family, like many other families, sought a safe haven. They migrated to the camps in the Azaz region, where they lived in difficult conditions to continue their lives.

But the dynamic of war changed over time. In 2024, Tal Rifaat came under the control of the Syrian National Army as part of Operation Dawn of Freedom. With the capture of Tal Rifaat, the hope of returning to their homes arose for the people there.
